The Mayor’s Yard is filled with life during Christmas in the Old Royal Town – the first two weekends of December. Come on in and experience a renaissance Christmas.

Friday, December 1

Saturday, December 2

  • 10 AM – 6 PM: Christmas stalls: Visit the charming fair booths. Maybe your will find a little thing for the Christmas stocking? Christmas workshop at the Costume Guild Hall. The blacksmith will hammer away at his old forge. Mads Nisse (the elf/gnome) is playing tricks and games in the Mayor’s Yard. We make Christmas cookies in the old kitchen.
  • 10 AM – 4 PM: Live music.
  • 2 – 2:30 PM: Nisse Posse visits the Mayor’s Yard.
  • 10:30 AM and 12:30 PM: Come and hear a fairytale.

Sunday, December 3

Christmas in the King’s Food Cupboard: We have Cumberland (medister) sausage and black pudding and much more just like in the olden days.

  • 11 AM, 1 PM, 3 PM and 5 PM: Come and hear a fairytale.
  • 12 – 3 PM: Come and taste the fatted Christmas pig! Experience all the delicious dishes made from the Christmas pig.

Nyborg Castle is being restored

A significant part of the big castle project in Nyborg is a thorough restoration of the Royal Palace and of the remains of the central watch tower. A pilot project has just begun.

Nyborg Castle

A 22 m. (72’) high watch tower will again rise above Nyborg Castle. From the watch tower, visitors will be able to see the Great Belt, and the brick walls will glow after dark! On Tuesday, November 7, 2017, the approved project description for restoring and expanding Nyborg Castle was presented in the Great Hall of the castle.

Nyborg Castle will reopen in 2020

Nyborg Slot

At the end of the 2017 season, Nyborg Castle will close for extensive renovations and expansion. In 2020, the castle will open again as a recreated 4-sided castle, with new exhibition possibilities.

Battle Days with a Nordic Profile
