Culture Night: Wedding at the Mayor’s Yard

Tid: Friday, June 1, 4:00 - 10:00 PM (4:00 - 7:00 PM)
Sted: The Mayor's Yard

Wedding preparations in the Renaissance

In connection with Culture Night in Nyborg, we will prepare for a Renaissance wedding at the Mayor’s Yard. Bring the whole family and be part of the preparations for one of life’s biggest celebrations. Visit the living workshops and taste, feel and smell your way back to the Renaissance. Imagine the bustle of activity there would have been in the house before a big event like a wedding.

Get your hands into history

There will be fun and informative activities for the whole family, since you’ll be part of telling a story from the Renaissance that you don’t hear about every day.
Among other things, you can try your hand at:

  • Pickling - you’ll even take a little jar of pickled vegetables home with you, that you helped to make yourself.
  • Spicing wine - make your own spice blend for mulled wine and taste some drinks from a Renaissance wedding.
  • Dance - learn steps that were modern in the Renaissance or get ready for your own wedding by learning the Danish “Bride’s Waltz”.

Unfold your creativity

At Renaissance celebrations, an important part of the meal were the so-called show dishes, which weren’t meant to be eaten, but to be feasted upon only with the eyes, on an elaborately set table.
Come and be part of setting a festive table with lots of show dishes. If you are really creative, you can win a prize.

Practical information:

This evening, there will be free entrance for all.

We will be open from 4:00 - 10:00 PM, and The Living Workshops will be active from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.
